Radisson Hotel Group Stadium Hotels: Stadium Hotels as a Niche in Radisson Portfolio

Radisson Hotel Group is launching India’s first stadium hotel in Nathdwara, near Udaipur, as part of its expansion strategy in the country. The hotel will be integrated with the Miraj Stadium complex and is being positioned as a model similar to stadium hotels seen internationally, where guests can watch sporting events from their rooms.

Nikhil Sharma, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group, said in a recent interview with Business Standard newspaper,  that the concept is inspired by the Radisson hotel model in Manchester, UK, where guests can overlook a football stadium from their rooms. In India, the company believes growing interest in sports creates an opportunity for similar developments.

Radisson is also in discussions with the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association for a second stadium hotel at Dharamshala. The proposal reportedly includes converting stadium boxes into hotel rooms that can be used on non-match days.

Stadium hotels form part of Radisson’s broader 2030 growth strategy, under which the company aims to reach 500 hotels in India. The company is also exploring serviced apartments, branded residences and long-term hotel leasing opportunities. Tier-II and smaller cities account for nearly half of Radisson’s India business and are expected to drive a significant share of future growth.
